SERAY KALELIOGLU

Born in Istanbul in 1987, Seray Kalelioğlu started playing the piano at the age of 6. Between 1995 and 2000, she performed as a chorister in the TRT Children's Choir. In 1996, she participated as a soloist in the Children's Song Competition held in Figuera da Foz, Portugal, and was awarded the "Friendship and Peace Award." Between 2001 and 2005, she studied piano with İslam Manafov at İstek Belde Fine Arts High School, to which she was accepted with a full scholarship. Between 2005 and 2009, she continued her piano studies with Dilek Yonat Batıbay at the Marmara University Department of Music Education. During the 2007-2008 academic year, she studied at the Gdansk Music Academy in Poland as part of the Erasmus Exchange Program. Returning to Türkiye in 2008, Seray Kalelioğlu continued her piano studies with İris Şentürker and has since participated in various projects domestically. She performed as a pianist in “A Şehnaz Play” at the Istanbul State Theater. She was featured in NTV’s “Sarkis Documentary” and “Sarkis Exhibition” filmed at Istanbul Modern with Scriabin’s Etude Op. 2 No. 1. She has taught piano at various institutions. She also participated as a pianist in “A Şehnaz Play” at Kültür University, for which she was the music director. She continued her graduate studies at ITU MIAM in chamber music with Jerfi Aji and in piano with Ayşegül Sarıca. She studied Alexander Technique on piano with pianist Nelly Ben-Or and cellist Selma Gökçen, Taubmann Technique with Edna Golandsky, and masterclasses with Hüseyin Sermet.
She participated in the “Youth Meeting in Musicology IV” symposium held at Istanbul Technical University with her presentation titled “Edvard Grieg and the Piano Concerto: Connections with Hummel and the Norwegian Influence.” Pianist Seray Kalelioğlu has given recitals at venues such as Marmara University, Istanbul Technical University, Arsu Stage and Yeldeğirmeni Sanat, Caddebostan Cultural Center, Kozyatağı Cultural Center, and Mozarthaus. In 2018 and 2019, she served as the coordinator of the ITU MİAM Piano Festival. She has released two albums, "Existence" and "Hummel: Piano Variations," consisting of works by Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Kalelioğlu continues her work as a pianist and educator.
