"EXISTENCE"
About the Album
Pianist Seray Kalelioğlu brings unrecorded works of genius pianist and composer Johann Nepomuk Hummel to life with this album of selected piano pieces.
A student of the great composer Mozart and both a friend and rival of Beethoven, Hummel was a renowned pianist in his time. The album "Existence" consists of short pieces that recount Hummel's journey as a pianist from a young age. Also a renowned pedagogue, Hummel brilliantly summarizes musical forms through these works.
The most striking feature of the work, which consists of the first-ever recorded pieces “Alla Polacca, Allegretto and Gigue, An Alexis, Andantino, Assembly Waltz, Marcia (NC01-06)” and “Six Easy Pieces (Op.42)”, is that it is a tribute to Hummel.
